Another medical marijuana dispensary opened Friday in New Jersey — this time in a town poised to allow weed sales to those 21 and older.
Zen Leaf opened its third New Jersey dispensary on Route 1 near the Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrence. It’s the first to open in the Trenton area, with the closest dispensary nearly a half hour away in Cranbury.
The sleek storefront has large TV screens displaying the names of various strains, like G6, Sunshine OG and Motorbreath. It sells marijuana flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, edibles, tinctures and shake.
All of the state’s 19 dispensaries are medical-only for now. But they will likely get the first shot at selling to the legal, 21 and older market once they prove they have enough cannabis to keep up with the demand.
“We have experience in multiple states” expanding from medical to recreational use, said Anthony Marsico, executive vice president of Verano. “We always prioritize our patients.”
