Beer World receives protected marijuana dispensary license | | – The Daily Gazette

CATSKILL — Beer World is looking to convert part of the beer store into a cannabis retail dispensary.

Joseph Minuta, of Minuta Architecture in New Windsor, and Sonny Patel, owner of Beer World, presented their site plans and state-issued retail marijuana license to the village Planning Board on Monday night for review and guidance for next steps.

“We are here because we are looking at splitting up the existing retail space to have a second tenant,” Minuta said. “Beer World would remain on the left, and on the right-hand side, we will add a retail cannabis dispensary, which has a New York state license for this address currently and that’s what we are looking to do, split one retail space into two.”

To convert the building into two businesses, Minuta said the business will extend the existing entranceway and canopy covering it, to make a larger entrance that will have two sets of doors: one for Beer World and one for the dispensary.

The branded signage on the building will be smaller than the existing Beer World sign to accommodate signage for both businesses.

“How much increased traffic do you expect,” Planning Board Chairman Gilbert Bagnell asked at the meeting.

Minuta does not anticipate any change
