Kern County deputies on April 6 discovered two alleged crimes at a storefront business in the 600 block of Cottonwood Road.

The most immediate was a shooting.

“Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” the department said on Facebook.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the department said.

“There is no suspect information at this time,” it said.

The second alleged crime was the store itself.

It was an illegal marijuana dispensary, the department said.

“While inside the business, deputies discovered a large amount of processed marijuana and THC products,” the department said. “ Narcotics detectives responded to assist patrol deputies with the seizure of marijuana and related products pursuant to a search warrant.”

Pictures on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page show cash strewn on the floor of the store. It also shows jars with what appears to be marijuana in a counter case, labelled with names such as as “Jet Fuel” and “AK-47.”
