Texas Tech wide receiver Reginald Davis was arrested for suspicion of marijuana possession, according to a report in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Davis, a junior, was arrested Monday and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center jail at 12:04 p.m., according to jail records. He was later released.
Lubbock Police Department Lt. Ray Mendoza told the Lubbock newspaper that Davis was pulled over for a traffic violation when officers found less than two ounces of marijuana in Davis’ possession.
“Texas Tech is aware of the situation regarding Reginald Davis,” an athletics spokesman told The Dallas Morning News. “We are in the process of gathering information at this time.”
Davis had 29 catches for 318 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore and is expected to compete for a starting wide receiver job for the Red Raiders this season. He has 44 career catches for 518 yards and eight touchdowns.
